- JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS:
- To get promoted from Junior High School, a student must have completed 32 semester courses. To be promoted, a student must have a 2.0 GPA or better for each course each year. Curriculum course work includes:
- Navajo Literacy...............................................2 semesters
- Language Arts..................................................4 semesters (2 for 7th, 2 for 8th)
- Mathematics.....................................................4 semesters (2 for 7th, 2 for 8th)

- HIGH SCHOOL PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS:
- All students are expected to pass all courses taken during the school year. Any type of remedial courses that students need will be taught during the school year. The basic rule of thumb is that if the student has enough elective time, the failed course will be repeated during elective time in the next school year. Students may be required to repeat certain courses to meet graduation GPA requirements. All students are required to have a yearly cummalative GPA of 2.0 or higher to be promoted or to graduate.
- HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
- To graduate from High School, a student must have met all of the requirements listed below:
- 23.5 credits
- Cummalative GPA of 2.00 or better
- GRADUATION/PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS: (Salutatorian/Valedictorian selection)
- Rock Point Community School will award the top two graduates (according to final ranking) of the 8th and 12th grade classes. The student ranked one will be awarded the Valedictorian Award. The student ranked two will be awarded the Salutatorian Award. If only one student is ranked one, all students tied for the rank two will be awarded the Salutatorian Award. To be considered for these awards, the students must have been enrolled with the graduating class for more than two semesters. Students moving into the graduating class (by credit promotion, transfer, retention) that don't meet the requirements for this award will be awarded Honorary Salutatorian if they rank two (in which the third ranked student will be the regular Salutatorian if they meet the above requirements).
Note: No students will be allowed to participate in either 8th or 12th grade promotion and graduation ceremony unless they have met all graduation requirements for that grade as set by the Rock Point Community School Board. No Diploma will be issued until all requirements are met and fees paid. If he/she finishes the requirements in summer school or later, the student may elect to go through the ceremonies the following May.
GRADUATION CAPS & GOWNS are required of graduating seniors to participate in the graduation ceremonial procession. No other hats can be substituted for graduation caps.
8th GRADE GRADUATION: Eighth grade boys must wear their top shirt that they made and the girls must wear their skirts/dress that they made to participate in the 8th grade promotion ceremonial procession.
