SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY:

We, the Rock Point Community School Staff and The Community, believe:

*That all our students are unique and capable individuals who can learn what Rock Point Community School expects them to learn, both in Navajo and in English.

*That all our students and staff members have uniqueness as human beings regardless of ethnicity.

*That with proper overall educational development, every student can become a contributing adult member of our school, the community and in the society at large.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

To ensure that the Rock Point Community School's philosophy be implemented and accomplished, effective and efficient bilingual, bicultural programs, geared to the unique educational needs of each student, the community School Board and staff shall:

1) Provide a Kindergarten to twelfth grade curriculum that builds on our students' language strengths by teaching them reading, mathematics, social studies, science and some vocational skills in Navajo and English at various grade levels.

2) Strive for a high percentage of student attendance and high academic achievement in Navajo and English Language instruction at all grade levels.

3) Encourage community members and the parents to get involved in their children's education.

4) Learn and understand the background of all students to provide a positive supportive environment for learning.
